2013 National Night Out Events (Tonight Aug.6, 2013)
2013 National Night Out Events
DENVER, CO – The Mayor’s Office, City Council and the Department of Public Safety are working with neighborhoods, local businesses, civic organizations, and non-profit groups to assist Denver’s communities in hosting National Night Out (NNO) events today, Tuesday, August 6, 2013.
NNO events provide an opportunity for communities to stand together in a unified front to promote community safety. The goal is to heighten crime-prevention awareness; build support and participation in local anti-crime strategies; and strengthen communities by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with each other and local law enforcement partners. This year, NNO is part of the City’s first annual “Denver Days” - a new citywide tradition designed to create stronger neighborhoods by fostering community service and neighborhood gatherings during the month of August.
Mayor Michael B. Hancock, Manager of Safety Alex J. Martinez, Chief of Police Robert White, Director of Corrections Gary Wilson, Fire Chief Eric Tade, and other public safety personnel will visit NNO events throughout the City to promote public safety-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.
