Press Release

Park County Sheriff
On July 23, 2011 at 00:32 hours a Park County Deputy was advised of an unresponsive male party at 38178 Park County Road 77. Deputies arrived on scene and made contact with four unsupervised children. Upon further investigation, two intoxicated adults were found within the residence. They were identified as Kendal Klug and Joni Coleman; both are employees of the Teller County Sheriff’s Office. The children were turned over to responsible adults. Both of the intoxicated parties were later issued summonses for misdemeanor child abuse.

  1. It would seem to me that the problem is not that they got drunk at home, but that they left four children unsupervised because they were drunk. Presumably, if the children had been in the care of a sober babysitter, no charges would have been filed and no disciplinary action would have resulted.

The action also points to a lack of corruption in a law enforcement agency that is capable of disciplining its own officers for misconduct in the every day world.
